Karen Eiffel is a writer and always kills her heroes in her stories. Her new hero is Harold Crick. A man who lives a carefully planned, solitary life and lets numbers dictate it, until suddenly he starts hearing a voice in his head. A voice telling him that he will die soon. In a new version, this story deals with the question of whether one can escape one's destiny and what it means to lead a fulfilling life.
